“These pictures show the deplorable state of Ikot Ekefre / Achan Ika bridge visited during my official inspection visit to the bridge. Ikot Ekefre and Achan Ika where the said bridge is located are neighboring communities in Essien Udim and Ika LGAs respectively. The substandard bridge which was locally constructed to ease movement links the above two communities and also marks the boundary between them. From the inspection, it is observed with shock that apart from pedestrians traffic, the bridge denies motorists from the two affected communities access to each other. The visit also discloses that the two affected communities for sometimes now find it difficult to properly transact their legitimate businesses as a result of the wretched bridge. Therefore, I employ my capacity and request the Hon. Commissioner of Rural Development for intervention.”
