Oritsejafor deceived Jonathan with false election prophecy – Okotie

The General Overseer of Household of God Church, Rev. Chris Okotie, on Sunday said that were it not Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor’s “false” prophecy to former President Goodluck Jonathan, the latter (Jonathan) would not have contested the 2015 presidential election.

He said that the former President had initially made up his mind not to vie for the election, but stated that Oritsejafor “deceived” him with tales of victory as prophesied unto him by God.
Oritsejafor is the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Okotie, who said this while delivering a sermon in his church on Sunday in Lagos, said, “Pastor Oritsejafor deceived Jonathan with a false prophecy from God that he (Jonathan) would win the election convincingly.”
He said, “The man (Jonathan) became convinced to contest after Oritsejafor had told him, using CAN’s name, that God had ordained him the winner of the 2015 presidential election.”
Okotie noted that some members of CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria at that time knew Oritsejafor’s prophecy was false, but were scared to speak out.
He said, “They couldn’t speak out because they were scared of being insulted. They were scared of being insulted for saying rubbish. They were scared of being insulted on the pages of newspapers. So, while I continued to write and speak that Jonathan was not the man, those of them who knew the truth in what I was saying chose to keep quiet out of fear.
“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan was not of God; that whosoever would win would be one that had built a tabernacle in the presence of God.
“I told CAN and PFN that Jonathan did not belong to the House of David and that since he did not belong to the household, his winning would bring more sorrow to Nigeria.”
Okotie said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory was an act of God, adding that his emergence was a sign of good things to come.
Quoting Hebrews chapter eight, verses one and two, Okotie said, “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heavens.
“A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord picked, and not man.”
But responding on behalf of Oritsejafor, the Director of National Issues in CAN, Mr. Sunny Oibe, in an interview with THE PUNCH on Sunday, said that Okotie was looking for popularity through Oritsejafor.
He said, “Well, it is laughable if Chris Okotie is making this spurious allegation…We will not like to take issues with Okotie…because doing that will amount to making him popular. He is looking for popularity which he doesn’t have through Pastor Ayo and he is not going to get it.
“Okotie knows exactly that what he is saying is not true. Nigerians should know that Pastor Oritsejafor is not among those pastors that make prophecies. He does not make prophecy and never said anything during the campaigns. Why would he bring politics into the pulpit?
“This is where we Christians are getting it wrong. They are the ones misleading Nigerians. Oritsejafor never made any prophecy concerning Jonathan and the 2015 presidential election. I challenged any Nigerian with evidence to come forward.”

Rev Abel Damina threatens to sue Think Akwa Ibom! for publishing daughter’s beautiful photos

A pastor in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Abel Damina has threatened to file a lawsuit against Think Akwa Ibom! blog for publishing photographs of his 22-year old daughter, Jesimiel.

The blog had on Saturday, October 10, 2015, published 11 photographs of Jesimiel Damina with the headline ‘Awesome photos of Rev Abel Damina’s beautiful daughter, Jesimiel’. The photographs, including Jesimiel’s graduation photos at Full Sail University, Florida, United States, were lifted from her Facebook page by Think Akwa Ibom!

Dr. Damina who is the founder/Senior Pastor, Power City International, Uyo, said that the publication of the photographs by Think Akwa Ibom! violates her daughter’s right to privacy, and that they should be taken off the blog immediately.

“Those photos have not been officially released to you or your organization and you don't have the rights to them. This is directive is from Dr Abel Damina ‎that you remove the post immediately to avoid legal actions,” Mercy Titus who claimed to be Damina’s office assistant said in an email sent to Think Akwa Ibom! on Thursday, October 15, 2015.

Think Akwa Ibom! says it won’t take down the post as demanded by the pastor.

“Tell Dr. Damina, we are sorry to disappoint him: we won’t take down the post from our blog. He can go to court,” Mr. Nse Peter, the editor of Think Akwa Ibom! said in his response to Damina’s email.

Mr. Peter went on to explain why the blog won’t give in to Damina’s demand: “When you share your photographs on Facebook, it must be because you want the public to see and probably appreciate them, as well as tell others about you and your photographs. Therefore, it would be wrong, absolutely, for the same person who posted her photographs on Facebook to turn around and claim the right to privacy over the same photographs she personally posted on the social networking site.

“What was Jesimiel thinking when she posted those photographs on her Facebook page? What harm have we caused her or her family by publishing those beautiful photographs of hers?

“Think Akwa Ibom! didn’t sneak into Jesimiel Damina’s bedroom to take the photographs from her personal computer; we copied them from her Facebook page and have properly credited those photographs to her. We only helped her to share her photos to our readers, which we feel Dr. Damina and her daughter, Jesimiel ought to thank us for doing just that.”

Ex-senator slaps newspaper vendor inside Government House – PREMIUM TIMES

A newspaper vendor in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, has alleged that a former senator from Akwa Ibom State, Anietie Okon, publicly assaulted him, slapping him multiple times.

The incident allegedly took place on Wednesday around the banquet hall of the Akwa Ibom Government House, Uyo, d swearing-in ceremony of the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno Local Government Area, Awong Effiong Achianga as Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers.
The event attracted a few newspaper vendors who thought they could make quick sales at the venue.
The victim, Ndifreke Etim, claimed he was standing by, hawking newspapers near the entrance door of the banquet hall when Mr. Anietie Okon came out from the hall and walked past him towards his car, and then suddenly stopped midway to beckon on him.
“I ran towards him. I thought he wanted to buy newspapers,” Mr. Etim told PREMIUM TIMES.
When he got to where Mr. Okon was standing, the vendor said what he got instead was a ‘hot slap’ from the former senator. 
He said he was slapped multiple times by Mr. Okon, while three able-bodied young men who were with the former senator stood by to watch.
He said two other vendors who witnessed the incident were begging the former senator to stop molesting him.
“When he finished slapping me, he accused me of stealing his wallet. But God knows I am not a thief, I sell newspapers to take care of myself and my family,” Mr. Etim said, his voice shaking. “He didn’t even search me to see if I had his wallet on me or not.”
The vendor, who said he spent N4,000 to treat himself of bruises sustained from the incident, said he could not figure out why the former senator picked on him.
The Newspaper Distributors Association of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State chapter, has threatened to sue Mr. Okon if he does not tender public apology to Mr. Etim.
When PREMIUM TIMES contacted Mr. Okon, he refused to comment on the issue, saying “I don’t want to respond to such an issue.”
